Alpha Chi Omega - The Red Carnation Newsletter

Alpha Chi Omega

THE RED CARNATION NEWSLETTER

February 2021

This month, the Gamma Epsilon chapter of Alpha Chi Omega has made the most of this semester's opportunities. Although we cannot always meet in person, our chapter has been working hard over Zoom and following Covid-19 guidelines to coordinate events and build relationships this MacDowell Month!

Events This Month:

  • Galentine’s Sisterhood Event
    • Our VP of Membership Programming, Gracie Haney was able to put together a build-your-own bouquet bar! The girls wore masks, were only allowed to come in groups of 25, and participated in socially distanced stations. There were even gift cards that were given away to a lucky few that participated.
  • MacDowell Month Event
    • Gamma Epsilon was able to hold an event to honor the fine arts this MacDowell month. Our VP of Ritual, Haley Hammons, brought the girls together to craft their own Spotify album cover with a song of their choice. Again, this event followed Covid-19 guidelines all while having a bunch of fun!
  • Healthy Relationships Week
    • The week of February 8th, Gamma Epsilon shared the love by celebrating and educating both ourselves and others on what a healthy relationship consists of. This year, we really focused on mutual respect within healthy relationships. We flooded our social media with graphics on healthy relationships and the hashtags #LoveIs and #HealthyAXOLove.

Spring Recruitment

This Spring of 2021, Gamma Epsilon was lucky enough to welcome home nine new girls to NMC 2020! We were lucky enough to have in-person recruiting with masks and socially distanced conversations throughout the house. The new members have already begun their new member period and are learning more about the traditions of Alpha Chi Omega.

Giving Back

Wings of Hope, a family crisis center located locally in Stillwater, Oklahoma needed our help this month. We were able to give back by donating items such as:

  • Soap
  • Lotion
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Paper towels
  • And more

We were also able to donate money to Covid-19 frontline workers. Collectively, Gamma Epsilon raised a total of $568! This money went towards various supplies that the workers needed in order to safely continue their work.
