I have recently turned 93-years-old. I have also just heard from two of my three remaining charter sisters. this means more than I can say!!!!! Bob and I were married 66 years and four months before he died. He was an SAE at A&M (now OSU). We returned to campus many times through the years. Seeing friends from both SAE and AXO was always a highlight. I loved seeing how the chapter had grown and was thrilled the first time I saw the current chapter house. I have always thought our golden lyre was the most beautiful of any sorority pin. YES, I STILL DO!!!!

My favorite place in Stillwater is long gone. It was called the frat shop where fraternity and sorority members and pledges would meet to talk and just keep up. We met other sorority women and fraternity men that way. We had a very friendly campus atmosphere, so it was always fun! I lived in the first house and it was just across the street from us.

In terms of events, rush week (now recruitment) was most fun. I enjoyed meeting new girls & I loved the challenge of introducing them to our sorority. I believed then, we had a sorority to be proud of & though Gamma Epsilon was new to the campus (I was a charter member) I loved to sell our chapter and all the possibilities we had!!! I have cherished the friendships through these 73 years!!!

I have sent all my scrapbooks from those days to the chapter. When I returned for our 70th reunion I was pleased to see they brought them in so we could see them.

The best part of my AX experience were the friendships. Wherever I moved or even happened to be, there was an instant connection when I’d meet another AX.

My favorite Oklahoma activity was the football and basketball games! OSU football is my favorite thing behind my family. Specifically, homecoming and the activities surrounding it were always amazing!AXO helps with encouraging women to reach for their dreams and helping them know that they have it in them to reach their potential!”

I always loved catching up with friends at Hideaway Pizza. They are a Stilly original with must eat fried mushrooms with ranch dressing! It was walking distance from campus with plenty of room for large groups of friends.

There are so many places I loved in Stillwater and so many I still do! Nothing beats coming home to the AXO house and being with friends and sisters. Watching TV, talking, laughing and just being with the best people. Nothing compares to that!

Bogies where Hideaway is. It was a bar with a slide to the dance floor. When we got our moms (bigs) matching pjs, we all went there and danced. It was special. Our pledge class liked to go there on the weekends. Joes was also fun before it got big; it had a retractable roof. And the Fox where the Garage is now. We would go on Friday for happy hour and stay the whole night playing beer games as the drinking age was 18 then. Also, Upstairs had Beat the Clock and Double Trouble Nights.

My most valuable experience with AXO was the forever friendships I made. I had 41 sisters in my pledge class, and I keep in touch with at least half of them to this day. Five of us are still the very best of friends and we travel together and live life together. I wouldn’t trade our friendship nor our memories for anything!

Alpha Chi gave me excellent help with organization, leadership, and building friendships in college. I was so thankful to have people in the house to help with choosing classes, picking the right teacher, and to help get me involved in ways I would have never considered.
