Fall Plans

Fall tends to be the busiest time of year in Stillwater. Typically, there are coke dates, date parties, pomping, intermural sports, group projects and philanthropy. While for now Football is still happening, there won’t be any tailgates, and they are expecting the stadium to only be 25% capacity. OSU is doing their best to limit exposures, keep groups small, encourage wearing of masks- and follow Stillwater ordinances

In early August, the Alumni Association cancelled America’s Greatest Homecoming festivities out of travel and safety concerns. They didn’t feel they could safely social distance alumni during walk arounds, or collegiates during pomping or any of the prep that goes into it. The majority of fraternity and sorority houses are closed to anyone that doesn’t live in them right now, so it also removed an extra layer of possible exposures. With that in mind, we are following their recommendations and not opening our house either.

The decision was then made to cancel Freshman Follies and Varsity Review, and replace it with a video competition instead. This is a hybrid of Follies, VR, and you can also add in other talents. We’ll keep you posted on when it’s going to happen, and how you can potentially watch online.

The other change to be aware of, is that we are postponing Mom Jane’s Memorial Dedication. As we’ve mentioned before, the back courtyard will soon have furniture, flowers, string lights and be a space to relax. Being outside and gardening were two of Mom Jane’s favorite things to do, and only seems fitting that the space is in her memory. She impacted Alpha Chi Omega’s for 25 years and is truly missed. Hopefully the dedication can take place in the Spring with everyone present who would like to be there. In the meantime, if you’d still like to donate we can accept donations via check or paypal.
